He’s a major “player” — just not in politics.
Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio brought his new girlfriend, South Tucson mayor Roxanna Valenzuela, to Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration Thursday — then promptly sat next to his wife.
De Blasio rocked up with his new romantic interest to Mamdani’s inaugural. REUTERSThe left-leaning lothario arrived at the event with Valenzuela and introduced her to a Mamdani staffer before strolling into City Hall to greet Chirlaine McCray, with whom he’s still technically married.
The 64-year-old pol was then seated with McCray, with whom he shares two adult children, as his gal pal sat nowhere in sight.
Ex-Mayor Eric Adams was also seated next to McCray.

In February, De Blasio revealed he was in a romantic relationship with Konst, saying she shares his political views and a desire to “cuddle.”
He planned to spend Valentine’s Day snuggling with her and sipping wine, he told The Post, before they split up several months later.
De Blasio and McCray announced their split in July 2023, saying they still loved each other but no longer felt “lovey dovey.”
The Post’s latest on NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration day celebration:
- Mayor Zohran Mamdani issues sweeping executive order that wipes out most EOs issued by Adams after indictment
- Mamdani defiantly vows to stick to socialist agenda in fiery inauguration speech
- Mamdani fans disappointed by disastrous ‘block party’ with no food, bathrooms
- ‘Tax the rich’ chant breaks out as Bernie Sanders swears in Mamdani
The couple blamed De Blasio’s long-derided political career for torpedoing their nearly three-decade marriage but said they wanted to remain partners.
