CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — A former New York City police sergeant has been sentenced to six months in jail for giving a crack dealer inside information.

Roosevelt Green pleaded guilty last year to federal charges he lied to the Drug Enforcement Administration about his relationship with the dealer. He was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Central Islip, on Long Island.

Green originally denied using an NYPD computer while on duty to access license plate information for the dealer, who suspected he was being followed by law enforcement.

Prosecutors later determined that Green demanded a warmup suit and a pair of sneakers in exchange for the information. Green has since quit the NYPD.

The dealer and 14 co-defendants are awaiting sentencing on various drug charges.
