Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was still a “high risk” of suicide — like anyone facing a slew of sex-trafficking children charges, according to O.J. Simpson’s former attorney.

“When people are in jail and they are accused of a certain type of crime, there’s a high likelihood that people who are in custody will have a very negative reaction,” Robert Shapiro said Saturday night outside a West Hollywood restaurant.

Epstein was found dead of an apparent suicide in a federal jail Saturday morning. He had recently been taken off suicide watch.

“I don’t know anything of the facts, I’m just saying generally when people are accused of those types of charges involving minors or children, they are high risk in any prison in the country,” Shapiro said.

The attorney didn’t weigh in on the whether or not he thought something more nefarious was at play in Epstein’s death — unlike the hoards of people who have taken to social media to share their conspiracy theories.

US Attorney General William Barr said he was “appalled” by Epstein’s death in Metropolitan Correctional Center and said the feds would be investigating.
