A former lawyer with the enforcement division of the Securities and Exchange Commission has pleaded guilty to conspiracy in a fraud carried out by a prominent Manhattan lawyer.

The lawyer, Robert Miller, entered the plea to conspiracy and securities fraud charges in federal court in Manhattan on Monday.

Miller admitted helping Marc Dreier conspire to sell more than $44 million in fictitious securities to hedge funds in 2006 and 2007.

Dreier is serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to federal charges.
