A police detective-turned-TV news reporter has admitted driving impaired in a collision with a police horse in Manhattan.
Michael Sheehan pleaded guilty Wednesday to driving while impaired by alcohol, a traffic infraction. His penalties: a $500 fine, five days of community service and a 90-day driver’s license suspension.
Through his lawyer, he declined to comment outside court.
Prosecutors said the 61-year-old refused a breath test after his car hit the horse in March. The animal survived.
He initially said the horse ran into his car.
Sheehan — a former NYPD detective — said Fox affiliate WNYW-TV fired him after the incident. The station didn’t immediately return a call Wednesday.
Defense lawyer Daniel Bibb says Sheehan is looking for work.
