A Manhattan judge sentenced an arrogant former Wall Street trader to 60 days in jail for drunkenly pummeling a female personal trainer after a fight erupted over his stinky halal takeout.
Quintano Downes, 48, wearing a slick gray suit with prison-issue sneakers, halfheartedly apologized Wednesday for his poor behavior as his wife, a finance bigwig, sobbed in the gallery.
“This was in my view a brutal attack that left the complainant if not seriously physically injured, nevertheless significantly physically injured and I have no doubt emotionally scarred,” said Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum.
The former Marine was convicted in March of viciously assaulting a female bodybuilder in 2013 after she booted him from her pal’s Porsche because she couldn’t stand the smell of his halal takeout.
Victim Sahara Walsh, 30, told jurors that a drunken Downes hopped into the back of her friend’s car, parked on a Harlem street, and demanded a ride home.
“I told him to get out of the car with his stinky halal food,” she said. “It was spicy, nasty street food.”
Downes’ wife weeps in court.Steven HirschDownes, described by his lawyer as a Harlem philanthropist, began to walk away when Walsh shouted an obscenity at him. He was so enraged, he rushed to the driver-side window and viciously kicked and punched her.
The father of three then dragged her from the car by her hair and continued the relentless beating, she said.
