It’s going to be brrr-utal in the Big Apple.

A brief and intense snowstorm early Wednesday afternoon will usher bone-chilling temperatures as a polar vortex grips the city.

Flurries will fall fast and hard on the city for around 15 minutes.

“Kind of like a thunderstorm that comes in through the summertime,” AccuWeather senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek told The Post.

“It’s very noticeable — but brief,” Dombek said, adding that the storm shouldn’t leave more than a coating on the streets.

After the white stuff, temperatures will drop faster than an avalanche.

“The cold comes pouring in,” Dombek said, with the mercury plunging to 5 degrees by Wednesday evening. That will be accompanied by wind gusts of up to 45 mph.

Thursday, the city will be more like an igloo, with a high of 19 and a low of 5.

That high could approach a record — the lowest Jan. 31 maximum temperature recorded in Central Park was 16 degrees.

Adding to the chill, blustery winds of up to 25 mph will actually make the temperatures outside feel like between minus-15 to minus-20 degrees in the morning.

“Pretty much the entire day [Thursday] it’ll feel like below zero,” Dombek said.

The city issued a travel advisory for Wednesday and warned New Yorkers to stay indoors.

The arctic temperatures are dangerous, Dombek warned.

“This is some serious stuff,” he cautioned. “Bundle up.”

The freezing temperatures are expected to stick around at least until Saturday.
