A snapped subway track stranded 1,300 straphangers in Manhattan on Friday night, authorities said.

A south-bound F train ran over the damaged track south of the West 4^th Street station at about 7:12 p.m., according to a MTA spokeswoman.

A rescue train picked up some of the stranded commuters but over 700 people refused to get on the rescue train, so a portion of the train was decoupled and returned to the West 4^th Street station under its own power at about 9:08 p.m., the spokeswoman said.

There were no injuries.
