An FAA worker was arrested for flying from Atlanta to La Guardia Airport with a gun in his carry-on bag, authorities said Friday.
He was busted Tuesday after using a badge to bypass TSA screening.
Afterward, Federal Aviation Administrator Michael Huerta ordered the suspension of a program allowing agency safety inspectors to skip security screenings, a spokeswoman said.
The arrest comes less than a month after an investigation by the Brooklyn DA uncovered a gun-smuggling scheme involving current and ex-airline employees flying from Atlanta to New York.
