International drug rings are using such social-networking sites as Facebook to communicate with their couriers and coordinate smuggling across national borders.

It’s a growing trend that authorities have noticed in Asia and Africa — and now it’s hit the Big Apple.

Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn indicted Luvman Allison after discovering that he allegedly used Facebook to arrange delivery of more than a kilo of heroin from overseas through JFK Airport.

The Ghanaian native communicated via Facebook and “explicitly discussed the methods he uses to covertly transport narcotics,” wrote James Holt, a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Last month, a high-ranking official in Malaysia said that international drug syndicates were using Facebook to recruit young Malaysian women as drug mules.
