Democratic Sens. Charles Schumer (NY) and Richard Blumenthal (Conn.) said yesterday that they plan to ask the Justice Department to investigate employers who require job applicants to hand over confidential passwords to social-networking sites.

They said it might violate federal anti-hacking laws.
