JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The family of a medical student from Jersey City who was stabbed and slashed to death on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao has contacted Natalee Holloway’s mother.
Holloway disappeared on the nearby Dutch island of Aruba in 2005 and is presumed dead.
Kan Mei Chan’s brother, Willy, told The Journal of Jersey City Beth Holloway gave him contacts because she knows how Dutch law works.
Chan’s brother says it took four days before they were told of the murder and the American Embassy wasn’t notified.
A Caribbean Medical University classmate, Moustapha Khalesa, is charged with killing the 24-year-old and stabbing a professor in a dorm on July 22.
A wake for Chan is scheduled in New York City on Monday.
