The heartbroken family of Tessa Majors mourned the slain Barnard College freshman as “very special” in an emotional statement released Thursday.

“We lost a very special, very talented, and very well-loved young woman,” read the family’s statement released through the office of the teen’s father, author Inman Majors.

“Tess shone bright in this world, and our hearts will never be the same,” the brief but powerful message concluded.

Majors, 18, was fatally stabbed inside Morningside Park around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday in what police sources have called a robbery gone wrong.

NYPD investigators are questioning “persons of interest” at the area’s 26th Precinct stationhouse, and probing whether the murder was related to a recent string of robberies.

The family’s statement followed earlier remembrances by Majors’ brother and a bandmate on social media.
