One person was killed and four others injured when a fire tore through an apartment in Brooklyn on Thursday evening, officials said.
The fire started on the second floor of the six-story brick building at 451 Kingston Ave. in Flatbush around 10:06 p.m., according to fire officials.
One person was declared dead at the scene and four others suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Speaking of the person who died — whose name has not been released pending family notification — one resident, Gary Lawson, 73, said: “I heard him yell ‘Fire!’ and I kept calling him. I couldn’t find him. I thought he had left already.”
