One person died in a blaze at an East Village building just after midnight today, FDNY officials and witnesses said.

The fire started in the victim’s bedroom in the building on East 12th Street at Fourth Avenue, according to a deputy chief.

“I just saw the flames and heard the window pop,” said Jeana Lissaver, a sixth-floor resident.

The fire was under control just before 1 a.m. The cause is under investigation.
