Mortally wounded NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos struggled to tell paramedics his name before passing out and never regaining consciousness, the first EMT on the scene said Sunday.

Tantania Alexander, a 23-year-old EMT for the Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps, returned to the scene where Ramos and fellow Officer Wenjian Liu were executed and recalled the moment she arrived at the cop car, where the shot officers were inside.

“I took charge of both patients. First was the driver [Ramos], he was in the car, his face was pushed to the side of the door. He was not moving. The second, the passenger [Liu], he was slumped toward the passenger window,” Alexander said.

“We call their names and no response,” she said of her and her partner.

“We pulled them out of the car onto backboards, and my partner started CPR. Each man had shots to the head. The driver was shot in the head, the chest and the thigh. The passenger was only shot once in the head. The driver was conscious when I started working on him. He tried to tell me his name, and then he just went out.”

Moments later, the FDNY and NYPD arrived in force.

“I let the cops take over CPR on the passenger. I went to the driver [Ramos], and we pull him straight to Woodhull [Medical Center],” Alexander said.

“I stabilized his wounds in the ambulance, dressed them and bagged him until we arrive at Woodhull, then I pulled him into the trauma room, and he was still alive when I left him.”

Alexander said she is still shaken up by Saturday’s call.

“For me, it’s still an open wound. It’s just so severe,” she said.

“There’s a lot going on in my mind right now. I wanted to make him alright, I’m just, I’m not able to tell you how I feel. I’m amazed that they got shot like this. I didn’t think it was possible.”
