The father of an 8-year-old is suing the Department of Education for $5.5 million saying his son was nearly blinded by a workout resistance band that snapped at an after-school program.

Fatmir Kastrati’s son Rron Kastrati was enrolled in a program called “Mind, Body and Sport” at PS 183 on East 66th Street.

During a session in February, the then-third-grader was using a resistance band when it snapped him in his left eye, leaving him with blurry vision, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit says.

Mitchell Sassower, the family’s lawyer, said he believes the devices were banned from the program after the incident.
