FBI offer he could refuse
One wiseguy still knows how to keep his mouth shut.
Accused Gambino soldier Onofrio “Noel” Modica was stopped on a Brooklyn street last Friday by two FBI agents who made him an offer they thought he couldn’t refuse.
“If you start cooperating with us, you’ll be home in two hours, and no one will ever know about it,” the agents told Modica as he sat in their car on 13th Avenue, according to Modica’s lawyer.
But if he declined, the feds warned, “you’ll be in jail for life” for two murders and for plotting to fix the jury in “Dapper Don” John Gotti’s last trial.
Sources said Modica, 46, listened silently before uttering just four words: “Take me to court.”
Modica’s loyalty to omerta — the Cosa Nostra’s now-shaky code of silence — led to the Manalapan, NJ, resident’s prompt arrest, followed by Tuesday’s roundup of 13 other alleged Gambino members.
