The decision to call off the ING New York City Marathon came not only after a day of outrage from storm-ravaged city residents, but after the event’s corporate sponsors intervened in the crisis.

A source told The Post that sponsors expressed concern about the event going on in the face of massive public condemnation, and discussed nixing the major race. It was unclear exactly which sponsors voiced concerns.
