CENTRAL ISLIP, NY— Federal agents have seized nearly $1 million from three bank accounts of a Long Island doctor indicted in a prescription painkillers investigation.
An attorney tells Newsday that Dr. Eric Jacobson has done nothing illegal and plans to contest Wednesday’s seizure.
Jacobson was one of the doctors who prescribed medication to David Laffer. He is serving life in prison after killing four people during a pharmacy robbery for prescription painkillers in Medford, on Long Island, last year.
Prosecutors allege in court papers that Jacobson made the seized money by illegally dispensing painkiller prescriptions.
