The feds threw the book at 27 suspected members of Tren de Aragua — and its “Anti-Tren” splinter faction — who allegedly plotted murders, extortion and sex-trafficked young women across New York City.

A twin set of fresh indictments unveiled Monday in Manhattan federal court mark the first time that the alleged migrant gang members are being hit with racketeering charges, which the government used to take down the Mafia — and carries the possibility of life in prison.

“Tren de Aragua is one of the most dangerous gangs in the country, and the NYPD has taken significant action to shut down their operations in New York City,” said Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch in a statement.

“This is a massive takedown of some very, very bad people,” she said.

Most of the 27 alleged gang members named in the sprawling indictments are in custody, with three arrested in New York City as recently as Monday, officials and sources said. 

Four suspects remain at-large and 33 guns were seized, including one engraved with “You’re F—ed,” officials said.

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act – or RICO – charges leveled in the indictments accuses the migrant gangs of conspiring to commit murder, assault, human smuggling, drug dealing, gun-running and more. 

Both the alleged members of TdA and of an offshoot group called Anti-Tren also face accusations they sex-trafficked young women — whom they called “multadas” — into the US, the feds said.

“They targeted vulnerable women from Venezuela, forcing them into sex work and threatening to kill their families if they didn’t comply,” Tisch said. “These are depraved criminals…with absolutely no regard for human life.”

The alleged Tren de Aragua gang members listed in the indictments include Jarwin Valero-Calderon, 29, who was swept up during a December raid on an apartment in the Bronx.

Gang members threatened the area near the Prospect Avenue apartment outside Crotona Park for months, court papers allege.

During one September incident, a man and one of his woman companions went to a party near the apartment and were confronted by gun-toting Samuel Gonzalez Castro and Eferson Morillo-Gomez, according to the court papers.

Castro told the man that they would “blow his f—ing head off” if he tried to run, the papers allege.

“As this was occurring, the Companion was screaming,” the papers state. “Castro and Morillo-Gomez told the Companion, in substance, that she needed to stop screaming or they would kill her too.”

The rogue’s gallery of alleged Tren de Aragua members named in the indictment also includes Anderson Smith Zambrano-Pacheco, 26, who was allegedly involved in the gang’s shocking takeover of an Aurora, Colorado, apartment building.

He’s listed as part of “Anti-Tren,” an offshoot almost exclusively composed of former members of Tren de Aragua, according to the indictment.

The court papers themselves give few other details on the accusations against the suspected gang members – but officials at the news conference, which also included Mayor Eric Adams and President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan, hailed it as part of a larger crackdown on the gangs.

Addressing the wider scourge of Tren de Aragua in the Big Apple, Adams noted that purported members of the gang were implicated in 2024’s beatdown of two NYPD cops in Times Square. 

He said another alleged gang member had shot two cops in Queens. 

Hizzoner then took a veiled shot at Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s (D-Maryland) recent trip to El Salvador to visit Kilmar Abrego Garcia – who courts have found was wrongly deported and the Trump administration has insisted is a MS-13 gang member. 

“It is time for all of us to ask the question, particularly those who are in government who find it more convenient to have a tequila drink with someone who is a gang member, which side are you on?” Adams said, apparently referencing a widely-circulated picture that purported to show margaritas in front of Garcia and Van Hollen.

The indicted gangbangers face up to life in prison on the RICO and sex trafficking charges.

The racketeering law has famously been used by federal prosecutors — including former Mayor Rudy Giuliani — to bust up Mafia families, as well as target hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Homan used the occasion to attack the City Council for suing to block Adams from reopening the ICE office on Rikers Island.

“From what I understand, they want less federal agents in Rikers Island to do more of what you see in front of you: identifying terrorists,” he said.

“What you see today is the result of collaboration between local and federal law enforcement.”
