Feds: Toast bagel pol Larry
The feds say it’s time for Larry Seabrook to get creamed.
The crooked ex-pol — who was famously accused of forging a receipt for a bagel sandwich and a diet Snapple to read $177 — deserves up to nine years in jail for his years of defrauding taxpayers, prosecutors wrote ahead of his Jan. 8 sentencing.
The recommendation, filed Tuesday in Manhattan federal court, says the former city councilman’s brazen scams steered more than $2.4 million in public money to nonprofits staffed by family and friends.
“This activity inevitably eroded public confidence and promoted cynicism regarding important government programs,” prosecutors wrote.
