Feel free to give the NYPD a thumbs-up on Facebook.
The Police Department has launched it’s own official page on the social-networking site.
The page, which went live at 7 p.m. Tuesday, was created because “a whole generation is using a nontraditional media platform to get information,” said NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.
The page had only 10 “likes” as of 8 a.m. yesterday, Browne said — but quickly gained more than 26,000 by evening.
