Firefighters battled a blaze in The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in Morningside Heights Sunday morning, authorities said.

The fire started in a storage unit in the basement of the iconic church at 10:09 a.m., the FDNY said. The blaze was considered minor and was put out at around 11 a.m., according to fire officials.

About 200 Sunday churchgoers remained calm and moved the services outside as firefighters hosed down the flames, according to church security.

“This is unique! But it’s a beautiful day!” a woman who was handing out palm fronds to people outside exclaimed.

No one was reported injured, the FDNY said.
