A fire broke out at a restaurant inside Grand Central Station Tuesday afternoon, sending thick clouds of smoke billowing out onto the street, fire officials said.
The fire began in the duct work of Junior’s Restaurant, located in the terminal’s dining concourse at around 1 p.m., officials said.
Smoke filled the terminal, setting off alarms and sending people heading for the exits.
About 12 units of FDNY firefighters responded to the scene, bringing the blaze under control around 2:30 p.m. No one was injured.
Train service was not affected.
