A small fire broke out early Sunday morning on the 88th floor of the Midtown Manhattan high-rise that is the tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere — and while no one was hurt, a few folks were temporarily inconvenienced.
“I had to walk down 40 flights of stairs in my high heels — they’re Gucci!” complained Sandra Jacobs, 27, who was staying with friends in one of the apartments that needed to be evacuated.
The fire, in an under-construction area, was quickly extinguished.
But until then, crowds of well-dressed people gathered on the sidewalk outside the partially-occupied building, at 432 Park Avenue, where apartments run into the high tens of millions.
