Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square was evacuated Tuesday morning when a fire started in the basement.

The W. 34th St. store was preparing to open for business when the blaze started in a dumpster on the second basement level shortly after 9 a.m.

Workers who were inside the store at the time were evacuated as firefighter went to work extinguishing the fire.

No injuries were reported.
