THOMPSON — Authorities say a five-alarm fire has caused major damage at a yeshiva complex in upstate New York.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports firefighters spent several hours Thursday night battling the blaze in the three-story structure in the Sullivan County town of Thompson, 80 miles northwest of New York City.

The newspaper reports the school is in a former hotel now owned by the Rockland County-based Viznitz sect.

There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
