A fire broke out at 1 World Trade Center this morning, according to authorities.

Firefighters responded to the fire on the 88th-floor, which is under construction, about 7:42 a.m., said a spokesman for the FDNY.

The flames were extinguished an hour later by 84 firefighters, and no injuries were reported.

A battalion chief at the scene said the flames were caused by heavy-duty welding equipment, and that there was no damage to the building.
