A terrifying fireball erupted following a multi-vehicle crash involving a tanker and tractor-trailer that left one dead on I-78 in New Jersey on Saturday.

Dramatic photos from the scene show firefighters trying to contain the inferno, which engulfed the two trucks. The collision also involved an Audi car.

Police were called at 12:43 p.m. to the westbound lanes, near Exit 52 at Union Township.

The accident forced the closure and detour of all westbound lanes, reported the Department of Transportation. State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
