Five former Rikers Island jail guards fired for a 2012 beating of an inmate claim their due-process rights were violated when their attorney disclosed confidential information about the case to the victim’s lawyer.
The former guards — Geronimo Almanzar, Paul Bunton, Ramon Cabrera, Raul Marquez and Vincent Siederman — are suing the city and Department of Correction in Manhattan federal court, saying they didn’t get a fair hearing.
A Correction spokeswoman said Commissioner Joseph Ponte has “zero tolerance for the mistreatment of any inmate.”
