The firefighters union will seek an injunction to block Mayor Bloomberg from reducing the number of firefighters from five to four on dozens of FDNY engine companies at the end of the month.
The Bloomberg administration has said it won’t renew a 1996 agreement that mandates five firefighters on 64 engine companies when it expires on Jan. 31, but union head Stephen Cassidy said the city has to negotiate changes.
