A firefighter was critically injured and two others left in serious condition while battling a blaze in the Bronx on Tuesday, officials said.
The firefighters were hurt while trying to put down a tenacious inferno inside a two-story home in Wakefield at about 12:30 p.m., according to fire officials.
“We saw something like out a movie,” neighbor Francis Tubridy, 50, said about the fire.
“There were massive flames rising up, if they tried to set it up for a movie they couldn’t have set it up any better.”
About 168 fire and emergency services personnel responded to the four-alarm blaze. The flames were extinguished about two hours later.
All three of the injured firefighters were taken to Jacobi Medical Center where they were recovering from their injuries.
