A firefighter was hit by a flying manhole cover in Brooklyn Thursday night.

He had been rushing to the scene of another manhole fire at 1291 Broadway at around 10 p.m. when a second fire blew a manhole open just feet away, at 1271 Broadway, officials said.

“There was an underground transformer fire here,” said FDNY Chief Daniel Martinetion. “It blew and hit him in the leg. It’s a compound break.”

The firefighter, who sustained head injuries in addition to the broken leg, was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
