waited since 2015 — when he passed the lieutenant’s exam — to be promoted to that title.

On Saturday, two days after he was killed in a Harlem inferno, Davidson, of Engine Company 69 in Manhattan, has been posthumously promoted to Lieutenant.

Our city lost a hero and we honor the sacrifice of one of New York City’s bravest,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in a joint statement with Mayor de Blasio.

“Lieutenant Davidson was a natural-born leader and dedicated member of the FDNY who died fighting and serving our city,” added Nigro.

Davidson, of Floral Park, Long island, is survived by his wife, Eileen, and their four children, ages 1, 3, 6 and 7.

He is the son of retired Firefighter Robert Davidson and the brother of Eric Davidson, an 11-year veteran from Engine Company 88 in The Bronx.
