A massive blaze tore through a Brooklyn apartment building Wednesday, injuring 19 firefighters and four others, authorities said.
The flames erupted at 4:45 p.m. in a six-story apartment building on 44th Street near Seventh Avenue, the FDNY said. Smokeeaters were still battling the fire early Thursday morning.
All the injuries were minor, fire officials said, but the intense blaze caused the apartment building’s roof to collapse, authorities said.
Building resident Nina Flores told the Post she made her way through the haze and heat to try and save her family’s two Yorkies, Sparky, 10, and Patagonia, 4.
“The firefighters wouldn’t let me in,” she said. “But I couldn’t leave them. They’re like my kids.”
