The identity of one of two people killed in a California library shooting has been revealed — as the local DA heaped praise on staff for saving lives.

One of the victims was 46-year-old Chico resident Jacob Hull, and the other is an unidentified 74-year-old man, according to KRCR. A child was also injured in the shooting.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey told the county’s board of supervisors about the Butte County Library staff’s heroic actions.

“They heard the shots, they even saw what was going on, and they shepherded children and patrons into safe places and locked doors,” Ramsey said.

The alleged shooter is 18-year-old Bradley Scott Sayer, who acted alone with intentions to commit a “Columbine High School massacre type of shooting.”

Sayer allegedly killed two people at the library late Monday and also left a child injured.

Police received reports of an active shooter at a Butte County library just past 5 p.m., and rushed to the scene after hearing a 911 call filled with screams and gunfire.

Sayer has been booked into the Butte County Jail on two counts of murder. The FBI is assisting in the investigation into the shooting, as is the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
