YONKERS, N.Y. — A New York man has been charged with trying to arrange sex with a 10-year-old girl.

Authorities say Robert Viggiano of Fishkill was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of attempted rape.

Yonkers Police Commissioner Edmund Hartnett and Mayor Philip Amicone said at a news conference that the investigation involved an undercover officer posing as a mother willing to sell her daughter for sex.

They say Harnett was arrested Tuesday when he showed up for a meeting with the undercover officer. He had the $400 and candy for the girl that she asked him to bring

Viggiano is being held without bail pending a Feb. 23 hearing. Police say he’s an electrician who owns Energy Services of New York in Cold Spring.

The name of his lawyer was not immediately known.
