Flower biz is blooming
For the past year, Nic Faitos has been fielding calls at his Chelsea flower studio from Texas, Oklahoma and other states where same-sex marriage isn’t legal.
About a dozen of those calls have yielded new business from gay couples headed to New York to get married.
In peak season, his Starbright Floral Design handles about 20 weddings a month, including an average of two a month for gay couples.
Faitos said gay couples are “more eclectic in their tastes” and generally walk down the aisle with more exotic flowers, such as rare orchids.
