WASHINGTON — New York state may not have enough hospital beds to weather a swine-flu epidemic, according to a report released yesterday.

The study, conducted by the disease-prevention nonprofit Trust for America’s Health, found that New York is one of 15 states that could run out of hospital beds if the H1N1 flu reaches pandemic levels.

The organization used estimates from a model developed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to determine that 94,740 people in the state may need to be hospitalized at the peak of flu season.
