A former Emmy Award-winning TV producer was among those scammed by a bad-news lawyer from the Upper West Side, authorities said Tuesday.

Retired journalist Patricia Lynch — an ex-investigative producer for “NBC Nightly News” — was among 13 additional victims defrauded by lawyer Steven Morelli, officials said.

The once-prominent Morelli was first busted in March for allegedly swindling nearly $200,000 from four clients by withholding some of their settlement checks.
Since then, scores of other victims stepped forward, leading authorities to re-arrest the crooked civil-rights lawyer on 13 more counts of grand larceny, officials said. Lynch of Southampton was among the 13 newly identified victims, who were taken for a total of $500,000, authorities said.

Lynch was owed thousands of dollars as part of her settlement from her 2010 federal lawsuit against the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation shelter. Morelli repped her in her lawsuit against the shelter, which she said wrongly banned her as a volunteer dog walker because she publicly criticized its euthanasia policy.

“For a man who’s supposed to be ethical and represent the public, this is disgusting,” Lynch told the Post of Morelli. “I trusted this guy. I thought he was a friend. I even went to a holiday dinner at his house.”

Lynch said that when Morelli didn’t hand over all of her dough, she grew suspicious of him and phoned his office constantly to inquire about the whereabouts of the missing loot.

“He didn’t return any of my phone calls,” she said.

Morelli posted $50,000 bail following his arraigned Tuesday in the First District Court in Hempstead.

His lawyer, Marc Gann, said his client has been cooperating with the investigation.

“We knew there was a continuing investigation into other potential lawsuits,” said Gann. “My client has continued to try to make his clients whole, and has done so in the last couple months, at least with a couple of clients.”
