A gentlemanly Brooklyn brawler ditched his machete because he preferred fighting with his fists — but ended up dead in a freakish turn of fate yesterday, authorities said.

Miguel Jimenez and another man took their fight to the sidewalk from La Cabana Rodriguez restaurant on Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush. Jimenez dropped the foot-long machete he was carrying and attacked his foe with fists instead, authorities said. He was knocked over and gashed his right bicep on a piece of glass on the sidewalk. He died at 4:30 a.m. at Kings County Hospital.
