A freight train derailed on the Long Island Rail Road tracks near the Hicksville Station on Tuesday — causing service disruptions.

Two of the 16 cars on the train, operated by New York and Atlantic Railway, jumped the tracks around at 1:10 p.m. due to unknown reasons.

While service was up and running by 2 p.m., “Customers should expect delays through rush hour tonight on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches of the track,” MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said.

No one was injured, but one of the derailed cars lay on its side.

Representatives from New York and Atlantic Railway did not respond to requests for comment.
