WEST BABYLON, N.Y. — Authorities are trying to locate the family of a friendly dog found riding a Long Island Rail Road train.

Train operators found the canine stowaway in Farmingdale. Police theorize that the yellow lab mix was frightened by severe weather Tuesday night and bolted onto the train two stops earlier, in Wyandanch.

Pat Rosen of Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview says the 85-pound pooch is a “lovey” who leans in for cuddling and kisses.

The mysterious mutt was taken Thursday to the Town of Babylon shelter.
