Mayor de Blasio spent more than $10 million — including $3.5 million in public matching funds — on his re-election, a race he led handily from the get-go.

Records also show the mayor took in 92 contributions after Election Day totaling $82,461, including 13 from donors who each gave $4,950, the maximum allowed under city election law.

Pundits say the heavy spending was intended to propel de Blasio nationally.

“If he won by 10 percent or less, everyone would have said ‘what a great victory for [GOP rival] Nicole Malliotakis,’” said Democratic consultant George Arzt. De Blasio beat Malliotakis 66.5-27.8 percent.
