Funeral services have been set for a 45-year-old NYPD captain who died after suffering an apparent heart attack last month.

Captain Matthew Hanrahan, whose birthday was Sunday, died late Wednesday, Captains Endowment Association President Roy Richter confirmed.

“Matt was a solid guy, respected by his peers and loved by the people who work for him,” Richter said. “His death has come as a complete shock to all and his family are in our prayers as they struggle through this difficult time.”

Hanrahan was a 22-year NYPD veteran and executive officer in the 100 Precinct. He is survived by his wife of 22 years and three children, ages 12, 13 and 16.

His viewing will be held at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home at 245 West Sayville from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Saint Lawrence the Martyr R.C.C.
