Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords took to the steps of New York’s City Hall Monday to demand politicians and voters push for stricter gun laws.
Giffords, an Arizona Democrat who was shot in the head in a 2011 assassination attempt, is traveling the country on a 14-state, 42-city “Vocal Majority” bus tour.
“Stopping gun violence takes courage,” said Giffords, who struggled to raise her right arm to the podium. “It takes courage to do what’s right. We must never stop fighting. Fight, fight, fight! Be bold, be courageous! The nation is counting on you.”
She was joined by more than a dozen officials.
