A woman fought off a would-be rapist in Midtown early yesterday morning, cops said.

A large man approached the 25-year-old and began talking to her around 2:30 a.m. yesterday on 8th Avenue, near 36th Street.

During the conversation, the assailant grabbed the woman’s arm, threw her to the ground, sat on her and tried to rape her.

The woman struggled, and then was able to escape into a cab.

Cops say the hulking perv is about 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, is in his thirties and has a bald head. He was wearing an orange shirt, orange pants and white shoes.
