A woman will take over what may be the most dangerous law-enforcement job in America — taking over for the Texas district attorney shot dead last weekend.

Brandi Fernandez, 42, will now lead the probe into of the murder of her predecessor, District Attorney Mike McLelland, who was reportedly blasted 20 times in being slain along with his wife in their Kaufman County home Saturday.

Mark Hasse, an assistant DA, was killed in January in a related slaying.

Among the suspects in the murders are the Aryan Brotherhood — which Fernandez successfully prosecuted last year on racketeering charges.
