James Capers, a member of the deadly Leland Avenue gang in The Bronx, was sentenced to 47 years in prison Friday for killing rival gangbanger Allen McQueen, 21, as the victim held his infant daughter in his arms. The 1-year-old was unharmed.
Federal Judge William Pauley called the murder “beyond human comprehension,’’ adding, “It was premeditated and carried out in the most cold, calculating way.”
Pauley described Capers, 24, as a “very dangerous person who needs to be in prison for a very long time.’’ He decided against a life sentence because it would mean “throwing another life entirely away.”
